-The Better Together Campaign
-Capital Campaign
-KWHS almost 100 years of service 1927, in 1973 the Stratford HS started
-2012 they combined their services 13 municipalities
-40+ services, programs and activities
-70+ employees and 300+ volunteers
-Return home 700+ pets a year
-Education programs for youth, 19,000 kids in schools – free of charge, donations are appreciated
-Vet outreach program – pets and people who are vulnerable members of the community
-Keeping people and pets together – makes for a stronger community and encourages more empathy
-Better Together Campaign, not yet public
-Plays a critical role in celebrating human and animal bond
-New outreach centre, giving families more time together to access low-cost and free services
-Don’t want to be a shelter that accepts animals, they want to be proactive in community to help solve socialist issues
-Why now? More animals need us
-More of a demand for their services
-Need a dedicated building for the outreach centre
-Pet Pantry – demand and need is increasing
-The result would be more animals being surrendered if they don’t have these programs
-Grow in parallel with the community which also increases the number of pets – don’t want to see it become a public health issue if families don’t have access to these services
-Currently running the pantry out of two shipping containers, outreach work is all add on things to do in their current space but they’ve reached capacity
-Numbers will triple in 2024 for people seeking help
-Decrease barriers to the services they provide if they have additional buildings
-Additional programs are also growing in capacity (camps, vet programs)
-Campaign Impact has 5 pillars: mobile unit and veterinary outreach, pet pantry, animal hospital, education and community programs, physical capacity
-Will be built beside their existing building
-8000 sqft, 2 storeys with a basement for storage
-Ground floor- permanent donation intake and pet pantry, education centre, mobile medical unit garage
-Second floor- office space, meeting rooms
-Budget $6M campaign
-Phase 1- new building $4.3M (ground breaking end of August), campaign admin $200K
-Phase 2- demo and renos
-Phase 3- mobile unit
-What your support means: pet pantry (keeping families together), low barrier outreach, connection
