- How research goes from Lab to Living room to change the way we age
- Finding answers so everyone can live well while aging
- One of main focuses is dementia, reducing people’s risk and how they can live well if diagnosed. Lifestyle and diet can help support the reduction of getting dementia
- Social isolation: maintaining a social network is important, isolation makes you more likely to develop dementia among other problems
- Take steps to help with those experiencing social isolation
- Knowledge mobilization, grant from Retired Teachers of Ontario to fund research for rural areas, supports for aging to take measures to support those who are aging
- What they know about social isolation and supports available
- Learned that a handbook would be a useful tool and pilot the program and gathered feedback – 200 copies were distributed
- Offered additional funding for a broader range, now up to 85K readers

o Richard Hughson Focus on the heart, brain and vascular system
o Astronauts spend 6 months in space – arteries age 10-20 years
o Cardiovascular aging, arterial stiffness results in falls and dizziness
o Gather data by conducting ultrasounds of astronauts in space and monitors recovery when they return to earth
o 1 in 5 healthy older adults have a disruption of oxygen to their brain
o Working to find answers to the challenges of aging
o Volunteers are so important in their research who meet their criteria based on the specific study – opportunities are listed on their website
