Our club celebrated an anniversary on March 4th. It was back in 1981, 43 years ago our club was formed. Congratulations to Don Willcox, Chuck Thompson, Glenn Stewart and Neil Aitchison, founding members of the club.
Brandon Flewwelling presented speaker and PDG Doug Vincent with a copy of the 40 Years of Service Book of our club history.
PDG Doug Vincent congratulated John Thompson on his great work completing the 40th Anniversary book on the history of Kitchener-Westmount Rotary.
Laura Power and President Brandon Flewwelling presented PDG Doug Vincent with a Gift of Sight certificate. Doug is a Charter Member and Past President of the Woodstock-Oxford Rotary Club.

“Rotary Roots Run Deep at the United Nations,” says PDG Doug Vincent. He shared some of his interesting background stories and Rotary’s role as a founding contributor to establishing the United Nations. Rotary can be proud, having a most senior level status at the UN.
“Many do not know of our important Rotary role in promoting International Understanding and World Peace, through the UN,” says Vincent. “In addition to the 49 Rotarians who participated at the Charter Meeting in 1945, it was a Rotarian who wrote the first draft of the UN Charter and it was three members who negotiated the land deal for our UN headquarters in New York city.”
Doug explained the history and important role Rotary has played, and how Rotary’s work continues through our six areas of focus and TRF programs, closely aligned to help achieve the United Nations SDGs (Sustainable Millennium Goals) for a better world.
