Meeting notes for Aug 17, 2022 Prepared by David Barth

Announcements.

Antoine Gerritsen will be celebrating his birthday on Saturday the 20th.
John Rose's wife, Stephanie will be celebrating her birthday on Friday the 19th.

Ray and Nan Millard will be celebrating 63 years of marriage on Aug 17th. Jim and Penny Kibble will be celebrating 39 years of marriage on the 20th. Those numbers make the celebration of Michele and I's 27th year of marriage on the 20th seem amateur in comparison, but still a big achievement in my books!

The Backpack campaign wraps up this week, as Jake and his committee will be out purchasing school supplies on the 20th. We are aiming to have 100 backpacks by the 19th. It looks like we will come up short as we are sitting at 44 backpacks today.
You can sponsor a backpack at the cost of $25.

Alexander shared information on the action plan for Ukrainian refugees – ask Alex for a list of resources needed.

Michelle Burke has set a date for the next Rotary Christmas Party. Please mark in your calendars Wed. Dec. 14 at 6 pm at the Westmount Golf and Country Club.

Troy is finding a location for an OFF-SITE meeting next week.  Stay tuned to your emails for the location.

The 50/50 – The pot is now at $259.50.  Rick B, Michelle and Rick B tried their luck with the marble draw – no winners and the pot grows.

Speaker

Jessica Chalk, President of Traffic Soda was introduced by Troy.

Traffic Soda helps companies with digital marketing and growing business.
It is a very left brained, data driven approach with heavy use of mathematical models and algo-rhythms.
For businesses today having a local digital strategy is critical.
The three myths.
  1. If we build it they will come.
  2. Marketing is about telling people what we do or sell.
  3. Once we get a lead marketing is done.
Your marketing should tell us about the pain points of your customers and how you are addressing them.

You have to nurture your leads.
There are some core principles.  Everything is about your customers.  You have to build trust and then shout it from the rooftops.  Assume people do not know how to reach you.  Be active and consistent online and be genuinely helpful with the information you provide.
The basics of their 5 step formula are:
  1. Website – optimize the website experience.
    1. For Customer experience
i.Should be fast (optimize photos etc)
ii.Mobile friendly
  1. For google experience  (use GTmetrix.com to analyze your website)
  1. Be in Local Directories like yelp and yellow pages and be sure all your branding and contact info is consistent throughout the web.
  2. Social Media – have and use a strategy consistently for the social media that best share your message.
  3. Advertise with google ads ets.   Digital advertising can be super targeted to your potential customers in many ways and is much less expensive than print advertising.
  4. Keep in touch  - have a strategy to nurture your contacts and customers.   Use email with constant contact, mail chimp or active campaign.

Blogging is essential to demonstrate your expertise in your field and build trust – again be consistent.

Your Google My Business profile is very important.  Definitely make it as complete and as optimized as possible.

There is a lot of information and things you can do.
Jessica has a one pager you can get by emailing her.   jessica@trafficsoda.com
