• Alten is the Artistic Director of the Unwrap Theatre, a graduate of the Sheridan Theatre Program.
• UnwrapTheatre was formed in April of 2019, a non-profit professional Contemporary theatre.
• Audience- 16-29 yrs old, theatre to encourage emerging artists.
• Why theatre? Power of story telling to build community.
• Starting a new theatre company is very challenging, working with a mentor from Sudbury assisting with starting a company.
• Pilot season funded on sponsorship and personal donations rather than grants and ticket sales. First production did make a surplus.
• Developing plays for millennial audience, and support play writers, authors, actors, directors.
• 5 year goal-Main stage production with combination of experienced and new artists, paid study opportunities for new artists
