Guest speaker:   Judy Nairn, Merv Redman and Tracey Helm from Hospice of Waterloo Region.

Merv, Tracey and Judy gave us an update on Hospice's capital project near RIM Park in Waterloo.

The capital campaign just recently met it's $12 million fundraising goal, and has now added and additional $2.5 million to help defray financing costs.

In addition to continuing it's existing community outreach programs to help clients and their family and friends, once complete, Hospice will be able to also offer residential services to clients.  The average stay in the residence will be seven to ten days, meaning the residential portion of the new building will serve over 300 end-of-life clients in a typical year.

Tracey and Merv gave us a virtual tour of the new building both from an interior and  exterior perspective.

The building is behind schedule due to complications in obtaining steel, but is scheduled to open in the fall of this year.

Our Club was thanked for its $100,000 contribution to the cost of construction, and there will be a plaque identifying the Family Reception Room as having been sponsored by our Club.
