Rotary District 7080 District Governor, Sohail Nasir brought greetings and his message to our meeting. 

 
DG Sohail Nasir presented President Mac Graham with a Certificate of Appreciation for our financial contribution in support of End Polio Now.

Announcements:
 
1-Just a reminder that next week in place of our weekly Wednesday meeting, we will be meeting on Tuesday, February 11th at the KW Granite Club in Waterloo. The guest will be Police Chief Mark Crowell of the Waterloo Regional Police. 
-Note that the date to RSVP for this meeting as already passed.
 
2- Fellowship Event- KW Titans Game. The proposed dates at February 17th (Family Day) or February 22nd. Tickets are $24/adults and $19/ kids. If you are interested in attending don’t forget to send in your preferred date by February 10th. You could even win 2 free tickets if you respond by the 10th..
 
3-The Vacation Fantasy Lottery (VFL) is getting close to being released. Keep an eye out for further information.
 
4-The Rotary International Conference is being held this year in Calgary Alberta June 21-25. Registration is open if anyone is interested in attending.
 
5- KW Trivia Challenge is back again this year and registration is now open. It will be held April 25th at 7pm at Bingemans. Contact Mac for further information.
 
6- February 22nd is the” Coldest Night of the Year”. Everton is looking to set up a team. Watch for more information.
 
7- We are sad to share that Brooke Outingdyke has submitted her resignation to our club due to personal reasons. She will be missed. 
 
8- Please keep Cathy Brothers and family in your thoughts and prayers as her husband John is now receiving hospice care.
 
50/50:
50/50 Pot is $343.50. Don Willcox was drawn twice and Laura Power was drawn as well. Neither pulled the black marble and so the pot continued to grow.
 
 
 
Guest Speaker: District Governor Sohail Nasir

District Governor Sohail Nasir took the opportunity to share 3 items of business and direction with the club. 
 
1-The Rotary Action Plan. This action plan was put out at an international level and in our district we have been working to implement it for the last 3 years.
The plan is made up of 3 Pillars. 
  1. Impact
    1.  How are we doing?
    2. How is what we are doing making an impact
  2. Reach
    1. How are we reaching out into our communities to support and serve?
    2. DG Sohail started up the District Community Grant. This is a grant of $20,000 from the surplus fund. This grant helps Rotary take on projects within their communities and helps to show visibility as they do so. 
  3. Engagement
    1. We have to continue to work on membership engagement. Keeping “seasoned” members active and working with new members.
      1. If new members are not engaged in the local club within 2 years, they will leave.
    2. We have to be willing to adapt if we want to build engagement.
      1. When Covid hit Rotary adapted and moved online offering Zoom and Hybrid meetings. We have continued to see this today. 
2- District Governor Sohail challenged the club to set goals and post them on the district website.
  1. Shows interest and progress.
  2. Shown the health of the club, both locally and at the district level.
3-The last item of business that the District Governor spoke to the club about was the importance of giving to the Rotary Foundation.
 
District Governor Sohail Nasir finished up his presentation by presenting President Mac Graham with an award for our club. The award was from Rotary International for contributing to End Polio Now: Countdown to History Campaign.
 
Todd Aitchison stepped in for Neil Aitchison to thank the speaker.
The meeting was adjourned at 1:15 pm.
