Dear Rotary Club members,

Thank you so much for your continued generosity and support of ShelterBox Canada. As a fellow Rotarian, the thing I am most proud of is that we are people of action.

At ShelterBox, we also believe in action. We act everyday, in partnership with Rotary, to provide the tools needed to transform lives and rebuild communities.

I am reaching out today to let you know your club's donation(s) in 2017 went directly to providing ShelterKits, tarpaulins, solar lights and blanket to families in Bangladesh (read update below).

We can never predict when the next disaster will occur, but your generous support helps to ensure that ShelterBox is ready to respond quickly to help families in their greatest time of need. Thank you for sharing our passion to ensure no family is left without shelter.

Moving forward you will receive a letter like this within six months after each donation you make to ShelterBox Canada, letting you know exactly how your support is making a difference.

Yours in Rotary,

Tess Widdifield
Rotary and Community Fundraising Manager, ShelterBox Canada
ABOUT YOUR IMPACT IN BANGLADESH

In July and August last year, torrential rains and floodwater from upstream led to widespread flooding and rapid river bank erosion around Brahmaputra River, destroying the homes, land and livelihoods of those living along the riverbank.

ShelterBox Response Team volunteers spoke with Bizli and her family while undertaking a needs assessment in Garuhara village, Kurigram Sadar.

Bizli and her family were asleep in their home in Garuhara village, on the banks of the Brahmaputra River when the flash flooding hit. In no time the water level had risen to shoulder height, but by a stroke of luck Bizli and her family were rescued by another member of the community by boat.

The family was left with nothing, as their home and all their possessions were completely washed away, and the land their home was built on then collapsed into the river. Until ShelterBox provided Bizli's family with a Shelterkit, they were living in a cramped house with another family.

Thanks to your clubs generosity ShelterBox was able to respond and support more than 3,000 families like Bizli's in Garuhara and other affected communities in the Kurigram region.

You helped us provide ShelterKits, tarpaulins, solar lights, and blankets to help those that have lost everything and whose homes have been damaged.
