Graham Cobb - Best 3 Minute Talk
It was a pleasure tonight to present the inaugural Graham Cobb award for best 3 minute talk over the past month. Grahams daughters Helen and Liz were on hand to present the award.
So who did the award go to? This speaker had us all excited as she began her presentation - thoughts of the next Rotababe were im sure going through more than one persons mind. Not a babe though but a Rotarabbit - Rachel Greenfield introduced us to the newest addition to her family - Celeste a mini lop eared bunny.
Congratulations Rachel, it was an excellent talk and thank you Helen and Liz for coming along to present the award.
Guest speaker Ben Sandford
Born and raised in Rotorua, Ben has competed in skeleton since 2002 and has represented NZ three times in the Winter Olympics. While competing for New Zealand, Ben became involved in sport governance and is a member of the New Zealand Olympic Committee, the World Anti-Doping Agency Athlete Committee, and is the Vice President of Legal Affairs of the International Bobsleigh and Skeleton Federation.
Ben moved back to Rotorua in 2016 and joined his fathers law firm "Sandford Partners" and in December was confirmed as the Labor candidate for Rotorua.
Thank you for joining us tonight Ben, it is always an enjoyable evening listening to the achievements of our 'young' people - welcome home.
