15 March 2017 - World Consumer Rights Day
Ann commented on the pleasing response to her request for numbers for tonights meeting, this could be because of the cute wee smileys contained within her email but please keep up the good work.
Directors are reminded that they will soon need to start thinking of their contribution to the Annual Report, tonights committee meetings could be a good opportunity to get these started.
The Charity Luncheon - re-branded The Long Lunch is booked for November 17. Guest speaker has been confirmed as Eric Rush and MC Clint Brown.
Please remember if you are on Market Duty cleanup there are 4 signs to collect:
- 2 green No Dog signs which are located withing the market and
- 2 Rotary Market signs located at the end of road
Westbrook School have sent out a request for help between 3.30 and 6.30 manning stalls at there Gala on Thursday 23 March.
John Sefton has 15 more sleep until unemployment. Leading into the momentous day has been the luxury of a more relaxed start time however this has highlighted the growing traffic congestion we have Eastside.
Naked hairy legs caused Ann Crossley some concern when she went to open up the public toilets at the market last Saturday. Excellent multi tasking saw her make a very quick exit at the same time as dialling 111 and summoning Geoff for assistance who determined that there was still life in same legs. Turned out a very drunk, very tall, lightly clad gentleman chose an unusual resting place for the night.

DID YOU KNOW:
Our club was very fortunate to have had a talented artist in its midst. Bob Ferguson was often know to take a paper napkin and sketch a caricature of a member during the course of the meeting.
This one and the accompanying poem was done some time in 1988.

THE FLEA MARTIN
(circa July 1988)
Do you know of a Martin who's often called Luke,
Who went into Woolworths, (and that was a fluke)
As he wanted to start as a monthly attempt,
A really great project, and pay them no rent.
So back to the Club came Luke, keen to please,
And told everyone of his Market of Fleas.
"A lot of fine cash will be made for the Club,
If we all take a turn" And that is the rub.
For old Luke changed the rules to every two weeks,
And the members now find that in spite of their squeak,
They have to front up to a weekly event.
With taskmaster Luke, our time is well spent.
