It was plenty of tears all round as members of the Rotary Club of Mundingburra said good bye to Laura as she departs for her home in Brazil after 12 months with us. The quality of the Rotary Youth Exchange program was highlighted with her speech as she, in sincere tears, and also at time laughter, said goodbye to everyone.

Laura spoke highly of all the members and parents that had hosted her during her 12 months with us. She said everyone looked after her so well, she feels they are really part of her family, and was very specific in stating that she will be aiming to come back to Australia in time as she felt highly about the friendliness and acceptance she had experienced in Australia.

She was very emotional as she gave her talk and these emotions were strongly felt by everyone attending this special night as you could see her sincerity.

Past President Miriam, and current President Sue, made special presentation to Laura and thanked her for the way she managed her time with us, and also wished her all the very best for the future.

When you hear a Youth Exchange Student giving you a talk on what Youth Exchange has done for them, and the emotions they show, it is clear that the program is a major player in building togetherness and better understandings around the world. Youth is our future and in Laura we are certain she will keep fond memories of Australia and her time with us, as well as build on her wonderful personality with more understanding of what Rotary is all about.

Laura we thank you and hope to see you again in the future. For now we are sure you will enjoy getting back to your home family and giving them an update on Rotary and Australia.
