Rotary Mundingburra assisting with Australia Day celebration in Townsville

 
The Rotary Club of Mundingburra is proud to advise that they have partnered with the Rotary Clubs of Townsville Daybreak, Thuringowa Central, and Magnetic Island, in providing assistance with celebrations for Australia Day via a grant from the National Australia day Council

Celebrating Australia Day – Townsville 2022
The National Australia Day Council Limited (NADC) is organising Australia Day 2022.
The strategic focus areas for the NADC are:
  • Meaning: To promote the meaning of Australia Day and being Australian
  • Participation: To unite all Australians through celebration and reflection
  • Recognition: To acknowledge active citizenship and achievement
Rotary has partnered with NADC to access funds from the NADC Community Grants Program to celebrate Australia Day. The Celebration will consist of two separate components:
  • 11.00am to 12.00pm (QLD Time) – This component will be managed centrally, being delivered from a studio environment and accessible to all Rotary Clubs and Rotarians. The central event will showcase Rotary signature projects across Australia and will have key messages from Government and Rotary leaders along with inspiring musical talent that will showcase the best of Rotary and our community spirit.
 
  • 12.00pm onwards (QLD Time) – This component is the ‘club based’ celebration, such as a picnic, sausage sizzle, BBQ, public forum, afternoon tea or similar, subject to members wishes.  The Townsville Super Cluster of Rotary Clubs (see below) is required to provide good quality promotional images of the events.
 
Mundingburra Rotary has taken the lead to establish a Townsville Super Cluster and successfully applied for an Australia Day Grant on behalf of the cluster of local Rotary clubs to celebrate Australia Day 2022 by arranging the following activities:
  • Townsville Daybreak – Sailing the Strand and Community BBQ at the Townsville Yacht Club
  • Thuringowa Central – Local Community BBQ  
  • Magnetic Island – Community BBQ at Alma Bay
  • Mundingburra – Community event with BBQ and entertainment
 
These Rotary clubs will be supporting local businesses and communities through the procurement of all supplies locally, and enabling the retention of local employment, in mitigating the Covid environment.
Everyone is invited to come along and enjoy the activities and join in to Reflect, Respect and Celebrate Australia Day 2022.
