Jayne Herring
WRDSB Trustee for Cambridge & North Dumfries

September is Rotary Education & Literacy Month

Bio – Jayne Herring

Jayne grew up in Sheffield and has been a resident of Cambridge for more than 45 years. She started working for the Waterloo Region District School Board in 1986 as a Secretary to the Superintendent of Schools. Jayne went on to be the Office Manager at Glenview Park Secondary School and retired as the Manager of Corporate Services in 2017.

As a passionate community builder and volunteer Jayne entered the municipal election to run as a School Board Trustee. She was elected in 2018 and served as Board Chairperson from 2018-2020 and is still serving as Trustee for Cambridge and North Dumfries until October 2022.

As a volunteer Jayne served as the Co-Chair of the Patient & Family Advisory Committee at Cambridge Memorial Hospital and is currently the Vice-President of Citizens for Cambridge a local community advocacy group. Her most recent undertaking is as Project Coordinator for the Cambridge Poppy Project and she will also tell us a little more about that project.

Jayne is very proud of the fact that she is the first WRDSB support staff member to have been elected to the Board of Trustees and to have been elected by her peers to serve as Chairperson for two terms.

Jayne still lives in Cambridge with her husband David, a retired secondary school teacher, and their dog Barkley and they enjoy travelling together in their RV.
