Biography

FRANK NEWMAN, B.A., CHRP

 

As a senior Human Resources leader & consultant with extensive experience in the Pharmaceutical Healthcare and Manufacturing, Financial, Semi-Conductor and Oil & Gas sectors, Frank has pioneered and implemented numerous innovative human resource solutions.  With a focus on creating business cultures where the best people come to do their best work every day, he has led employee engagement initiatives that led to breakthrough results.   These have been achieved during challenging business cycles, including mergers and acquisitions, downsizing, organizational restructuring and business transformations.

 

His work on employee engagement contributed to GlaxoSmithKline maintaining “Top 50 Best Employer” status in Canada for over 10 years.   He has led and consulted on two major HR Transformation projects. His development of the first Compassionate Leave policy for GSK led to his collaboration with the Federal Government on the creation of the Compassionate Leave provisions for Employment Insurance. 
 

Having held progressive senior Human Resources roles with Manulife Financial/John Hancock, GlaxoSmithKline Pharmaceuticals, Semtech-Gennum and Texaco Canada Inc., Frank has worked locally and internationally to deliver a full range of global HR services.

 

As an accomplished speaker and HR Leader, Frank has presented to the University of Toronto, the Canadian Institute, Ecology of Working Life Association, Canadian Compensation Association, Ontario Institute for Studies in Education, and Global HR Business.com, Guelph & Kitchener/Waterloo Chambers of Commerce.

 

Known for his problem-solving skills and ability to manage difficult assignments, Frank brings expertise in HR Transformation, Employee Engagement, Mergers & Acquisitions, Restructuring, Total Rewards, Talent Management & Acquisition, Strategic HR Planning, and HR Project Leadership.

He teaches the HR program at the KW Chamber of Commerce, is a senior consulting partner with Mgmt2Go, and is a volunteer mentor with the Waterloo Small Business Centre and the Laurier Schlegel School of Business.
