Opening and Sgt at Arms Report
President Chad opened the meeting
Paul T Cody read the 4 way test fairly smoothly - and Todd Lyons gave his standard 'against all rules' invocation.

SAA was Larissa P. again!  We had 26 Rotarians, Ivana and potential member guest of Rena, and our guest speakers Roland and Zack.
50-50 Draw

Rafflemeister Johnny Smooth teased Brian W and Todd L with vast riches.....  but alas.... nope.
Good News
Todd L.....   First, I was solely responsible for a Saergent at Arms error, so took full responsibility
Second - wanted to pass on a HUGE thank you to new member Larissa P for filling in on a Bingo emergency on Tuesday
and Third - I passed along evidence that whatever a father says is not NEARLY as important or interesting as what others have to say.....
Leslie U - was far away and visited a Rotary club, being thoroughly impressed with a crappy project they're doing over there
Paul M - thanked John Jonas for his great efforts in getting 105.3's Gail and Darryl to substantially support our Golf Tournament
Chad G - had a great time supporting his daughter in her Olympic bid!

Program
Sandra Peltier introduced our speaker today, Roland and Zack from Vera Causa Opera

Who was blown away by Roland's performance?  And upon follow up questioning, we learned he didn't really have any tallent, but started training just a few months ago!  Unbelievable...  And Zack was an incredible pianist.  Here are some of the highlights of his talk -

- Vera Causa Opera was started in 2015
- all tickets for performances are $15 for adults, kids are free
- it's for all ages and 'classes'; a performance last year had at least half the audience kids
- they are providing a proving ground for soon to be professionals; no where else can a promising singer get this kind of experience, without already having...  this kind of experience
- it serves youth - 30 and under
- some performances are completely 'locally' written, others are traditional, many are based on classic nursery rhymes
- stage hands and lighting is usually handled by high school students for their volunteer credits
- there is an accompanying orchestra of 15-30
- there is an accompanying chorus, filled with more amateur singers, anyone can tryout and belong, without a significant commitment
- they have 6 - 8 performances per year, generally at Cambridge Centre for the Arts, and First United Church on William St. in Waterloo

Their website is vcopera.ca ; there was a discussion about one of their performances being a night out for our club - I'm looking forward to it!

Zack played a final number, then Sandra provided thanks to them both.

Pres Chad added his thanks and we adjourned.
