Mark your calendars for our annual club  BBQ either the 18th of August or the 25th - more details to follow. Thanks to Ivana for hosting

Jim McPherson announced an amazing opportunity to participate in Food Day Canada at the Elora Mill - all chefs will be together to present an amazing meal, live entertainment and a stunning venue.  Very reasonable $175 and you can participate Wednesday, Thursday - wine pairing $50 - call for reservations or send Jim M. an email for more info.

Murray Pearson announced the Scot's are coming November 14th and 15th - we have most host families - and those that are participating need to provide info to Murray to be published in a program and to be better matched-  please be sure the info is in by this Friday if you are hosting. If you still would like to host email or speak to Murray.

Rena mentioned that the club is re-starting the satellite club - Sept 6ht 5:30-6:30pm at the club - will decide at that time if it will be every Tuesday or every other Tuesday.

Ivana got a few bottles of wine for those that have their phone ring during the meeting- all bottles go towards the wine wall at our next Gala.

Today's Program
Vannessa introduced our guest speaker Michelle Saran from Waterloo Regional Tourism and Explore Waterloo-the marketing organization for the region.
interesting to note that you are considered a tourist if you are more than 40 km from where you visit.
1 in 10 people are involved in the tourism Industry
$105BLN Spent on tourism and of course the industry hardest hit by Covid
Between Covid and the Fed and provincial governments subsidies- they are slowly starting to re-build the industry and should see it return to somewhat normal by 2024-2026.
focusing on heavy digital exposure from websites to maps to social media presence.
They provide a good source of what is happening all over our region - helping those that are visiting and live - discover our region much more.
People come to the region mainly to visit friends and relatives 58%, business is about 16% - our primary market is the GTA -and with the eventual extension of Go Train as well as the LRT will just enhance the experience for tourism.
Michelle's career successes are many having turned around Tourism for Halifax and many other cities in North America. Check out Explore Waterloo as a reminder of why we love our Region so much.
