Opening and Sgt at Arms Report
President Jim Jr opened the meeting.
Neil recited the 4-way test in a squinty kind of way. Noah give us the invocation and Prez Jim Jr led us in a toast to the Queen and Canada.
Attendance was 18 Rotarians and 8 guests:  Rob Johnson (Loose Grape), Russ Hopper (member in waiting), Paul McNemeny (former member and club jokester), Rena Hawkins  (member in waiting), Jim Jr's mom Marg and his daughter Jillian as well as guest speakers Stacey Bauer and Lacey Capobianco.
Health and Good Cheer
George was away so no Health and Good Cheer to report.

Membership Minute was done by Gary Dyke - well done, Gary!

50-50 Draw
Past Prez Paul T ran the show today.  Both John and Heidi lost out on the pot.
Good News
Paul T reported that, after attending a recent Cambridge North lunch where members boasted marriages of 40+years, he was most happy to report his longest was only 9 years. We aren't sure if that's really good news for him for good news for women in general.
Cayley reported on attending a golf tournament for the Women's Crisis Services Centre. She golfed with Erica, Noah and Noah's mom. Apparently Noah came to the tournament aspiring to be the winner of the Diva Cup until he found out what the cup actually is. You might wanna ask Noah for more info on that. The foursome did win at Trivial Pursuit so Noah had some victory after all.
Prez Jim Jr reported he was happy to have his mom and daughter staying with him over the weekend to do some painting of Puslinch Lake.
Jokester ???
The jokester position remains un(ful)filled.
We are currently accepted (and excepting) applications.
Announcements and Upcoming Events
Prez Jim Jr reported on a successful Club BBQ at Marcia and Randy's home last Thursday. Sandy's husband, Gary, won best costume contest (he came as a strip of bacon). Runner up was John Jonas for his strawberry hat (is that what was on his head?). Lost and Found items were shown. Whoever fits into those items gets to keep 'em.
Linda reminded us of our upcoming fundraiser, Best Bites, and passed around a sign up sheet for volunteers and for tickets. Event is on Sept 10.  Cost is 10 tickets for $1000 or $125 each.  Buy online at http://bestbitestickets.ca/ or if you need paper tickets let Erica know.
Katie reminded us that our Roses fundraiser is coming up. Tickets will be available next week.
John Jonas announced that an Oktoberfest Committee meeting was being held after today's meeting.
Program
Sandra  introduced guest speakers Stacey Bauer and Lacey Capobianco of the Harmony Whole Learning Centre which is a Montessori Schoool in downtown Preston.  The Montessori Method is a theory of educational learning designed to assist children in reaching their full potential. One of the main goals of the Montessori Method is to ensure that the child is given the opportunity to become self guided, independent and confident.

Both Stacy and Lacey are clearly very passionate about the Montessori Method and shared their approach on how to 'educate children for the new world.' Specific areas they emphasized included a focus on the whole development of a child that included learning beyond the classroom, fostering an entrepreneurial spirit, developing respect for oneself and others and to include both community and family in their daily education. More info is at www.harmonywlc.com

John Jonas thanked our speakers and confessed that recess was always his favourite subject. No surprise there!
