Bulletin Template (May 07, 2015)

Madison Horizons Rotary has been a long time supporter of Meals on Wheels, a division of Independent Living. This year they asked us to accept the challenge of adding another route to the Madison area.

These routes are for the evening meals. Meals on Wheels have a goal of doubling the delivery area in 2018 and 2019. We can help them by adding new people to the delivery route. It only takes a day or two out of your month and only 6 to 7 deliveries per night.

Memra Language Services

Samantha Beaver, a linguist was our guest speaker today. She spoke on language and how to use it for business today.

Operation Fresh Start

Greg Markle from Operation Fresh Start was our guest speaker today. OFS has been in operation 48 years. He spoke on working with youth with positive programs.

Occupaws

Marlette Larson and Maureen Mulroy from OccuPaws Guide Dog Association were our guest speakers today. They spoke about how the guide dogs are trained and housed by volunteer dog raisers.

Charles Tubbs and Emergency Management

Charles Tubbs from Dane County Emergency Management was our guest speaker today. He spoke on his career and what the county does during emergencies.

ConNEXTions

Saran Ouk was our guest speaker today. She has set up a nonprofit organization called CON-NEXT-IONS( connextions.org. ). It is a mentoring group helping young adults with financial education and how it works.

Fun with the Children's Museum

We did a fun project with cups, string and paper clips. When you wet a paper towel and drag it down the string, it makes different voices (the cup amplifies the sound).

We took a little bit of a risk. You looked around. You socialized. You trusted the people around you. Laughter and figuring things out together. Vibration, sound, science. Kids go through this process when they’re learning. They stage these types of things at the museum. They don’t necessarily label them but it’s happening.
