PRESIDENT'S MESSAGE

Hi Risers,

I’m reaching out with a fundraising opportunity for our club at the upcoming Mayo Employee Appreciation Day on Tuesday, September 15.

Here’s the best part: our club will receive $25 for every hour our members volunteer! So the more hours we fill, the more money we raise for the work our club does in the community.

And apparently, there will be a well-known musical performer at the event. The name has NOT been released yet, and I certainly don’t want to start any rumors...

But speaking of rumors... Fleetwood Mac? Maybe The Boss himself, Bruce Springsteen? Could it be Chris Stapleton? Maybe Weird Al Yankovic is making a surprise trip to Rochester? Who knows!

To be very clear—I know absolutely nothing, and none of those names are confirmed! You’ll have to volunteer and come find out with the rest of us.

There are two ways to serve and help raise money for our club:

1. Event Prep Team
Help get everything ready before the big day.

Prep Team Sign-Up:

2. Mayo Employee Appreciation Day Crew – Tuesday, September 15
Sign up for a shift and help during the actual event—and maybe find out who our mystery musical guest really is!

Event Day Sign-Up:
https://forms.gle/zhKcBvb7rxaMBhaD8

This is a great opportunity to serve together, have some fun, support Mayo employees, and raise money for the Rochester Risers at the same time.

Remember: every volunteer hour means $25 back to our club.

Pick a shift, grab a fellow Rotarian, and sign up! And if it turns out to be Springsteen, Stapleton, Fleetwood Mac, or Weird Al... you can say you were there.

Thanks, everyone!

Karl

QUARRY HILL FALL FESTIVAL
~Volunteers Still Needed~

This year’s Quarry Hill Fall Festival will take place on Saturday, September 12.

Rotarians are needed to serve in the food tent—helping with hot dogs, chips, cookies, and popcorn. It’s a fast-paced (and fun!) role, and a wonderful way to visibly demonstrate Rotary in action to the thousands of community members who attend. There are 12 volunteer shifts, each approximately 2 hours and 45 minutes.

The Quarry Hill Fall Festival has become a cherished community tradition, welcoming several thousand attendees each year. Proceeds from the event directly support Quarry Hill Nature Center—helping us keep admission free year-round and providing accessible educational programs for youth, families, and adults.

Don't miss out on the fun!

WORLD POLIO DAY - WORLD'S LARGEST POLIO WALK

On Saturday, October 24 — World Polio Day — Rotarians across our region will be putting on their walking shoes for something BIG: the World’s Largest Polio Walk.

More than 36,000 Rotarians and nearly 1,000 Rotaractors in 11 states and two countries are being invited to walk together — all with the goal of raising awareness and $1 million to help End Polio Now. Watch the Video Now

Our neighbors in District 5950 are gathering at the Mall of America. The MOA walk begins the morning of October 24, with walkers invited to do a little or a lot. Come walk for polio — and since you're already at the Mall, you might as well get your shopping on afterward!

Why walk? Rotary's decades-long effort has helped reduce polio cases worldwide by more than 99.9%. But “almost” isn't good enough. Until transmission ends everywhere, children remain at risk and Rotary's promise remains unfinished.

A club walk can be as simple or creative as you want: pick a favorite local trail, park or downtown route; invite the community; wear your End Polio Now gear; collect donations; and share plenty of photos. Every step helps tell the story that Rotary is still in this fight.

Host a walk. Join a walk. Bring a friend. Take the next step toward making polio the second human disease ever eradicated from the earth.

Join the movement. Take the step. End Polio Now.

COMMUNITY SURVEY
~Respond before September 9th~

The City of Rochester conducts a Community Survey every two years to gather feedback from residents about the quality of life and local government services. Results help the City identify what's working well and where services can be improved.
