This past week our program featured our own Joanne Rosener. Her presentation titled Rochester Risers DOING GOOD IN THE WORLD with The Rotary Foundation (TRF) showed us the difference we are making with our contributions to TRF. For those who missed it I have shared the ZOOM link to view.
As our annual fundraising activity begins its final weeks, hopefully your Calendar Raffle tickets are selling quickly. If you need additional tickets please reach out to Jolene Hanson.
In the stories section of our club bulletin I have included information about a service opportunity as a bell ringer for the local Salvation Army Red Kettle Campaign. I did a 2-hour shift this past Saturday and our efforts are definitely appreciated by the Salvation Army as well as our community. I hope our members can fill the opportunities that remain.
Please join us Tuesday, November 29th for this week’s meeting. If you can’t join in-person, I will be sending a separate email with a ZOOM link. This week’s program will be our quarterly Club Assembly. We will review our Year-to-Date club financials. The Talent Exchange Team will have a member engagement activity for all to participate in and the Social Team will update us on the results of the recent member survey as well as share plans for our 35th Club Charter Anniversary event. I will also present a number of Rotary Challenge coins to several club members for their contributions to our club so far this year.
Our Annual Calendar Raffle fundraiser to support local community and international projects continues. Ticket sales run through December 6th.
As a Rochester Riser you have the opportunity to help fund service projects both in our local community as well as internationally with this fundraiser!
Here's how it works:
We will sell only 1,000 tickets ($20 each)
$10,000 in winnings are guaranteed to ticket holders
You are asked to sell 25 tickets
Our fundraising helps support:
Our My Book Day Project providing 1st graders in Rochester with their own book
Local Grants served these non-profits this past year:
Boys and Girls Club of Rochester - funding their Torch Club leadership development program
The Reading Center - funding Gage Elementary reading proficiency tutoring program
International Service projects including a grant to World Without Orphans along with support for 10 other Rotary funded projects located throughout the world. These include water wells, nutrition education, reducing child mortality, solar lighting, scholarships, building furnishings and more.
Please make sure, if you haven't already, to get your sales packet from Jolene Hanson. If you have any questions please contact Dean, Amy or Jolene.
You have an opportunity to help a local non-profit in their annual holiday fundraising effort. This year we have joined with the Rotary Club of Rochester to help the Salvation Army of Rochester promote their Red Kettle Campaign. The funds raised as a Salvation Army bell ringer will make a year-round impact in our community through social services assistance, homeless shelters, disaster relief, children’s programs, rehabilitation services, anti-human trafficking, and more.
Donations in the red kettle stay local – directly impacting the lives of our neighbors by helping them in their time of need. When you ring the bell, you’re making change happen.
A number of opportunities remain to ring and you can sign-up here:

Tuesday’s program on The Rotary Foundation (TRF) highlighted not only the impact the funds raised have throughout the world as well as in our community, but also the generosity of Rotarians, specifically the Rochester Risers, on giving to The Rotary Foundation.
A couple of highlights:
Risers met their 2021-22 goals related to the Annual Fund, Polio Plus, sponsored a grant (World Without Orphans) and supported numerous grants from other clubs
The Risers’ per capita giving last Rotary year was $284.17, which was 4th for medium-plus clubs in the district
27 Risers are Paul Harris Fellows!
Last year the Rochester Rotary Clubs (3-club grant committee) contributed 11K towards district and global grants, which combined with other club donations including matching funds, yielded 450K towards projects around the world!
If you’d like to hear more about the program, you can watch the recording, or scroll through the slides at your own pace. The ZOOM link is...
