Rotary President Rick Wilson ended his 2019 term by providing a year-end update and passing the gavel to incoming President, Chris Blasius.
Rick provided an update on our club's progress throughout the 2019 year.  A few highlights:
  • Membership: We had a net gain of three new members. Our goal is to reach a total of 70 members by 2023. We all need to think about good prospects to join us.
  • Some programs supported by Rotary funding:
    STRIVE scholarships (5)
High school camps (RYLA, Enterprise) for 4 students
Exchange student support for 2, including year-end trip
    Holocaust Speaker at MMS
    Jumpstart to Literacy
    Leadership River Falls
Westside School for 2 Book fairs, year-end party for 31 kids
  • Hands-on efforts included projects at TurningPoint and the local dog park.
  • Community cleanups, Relay for Life dinner, ongoing reading and math enrichment and the Fish baseball concession stand highlight our community involvement.
Rick also provided an overview of fundraising efforts and touched on one of our focus areas: member engagement. We are at two out of three members who participate in activities other than meeting attendance. Our goal from 2018 Visioning session is 100% member engagement by 2023.
Our club is in good shape as we pass the leadership mantle on to Chris. And Chris has a new adventure ahead of her! Not only is she taking on Rotary leadership, she is embarking on a new career direction in River Falls. Chris has accepted the position of General Manager for the Best Western in River Falls, located in the same building as Junior's Restaurant and Tap House.
Read more about Chris in a recent River Falls Journal article.
Thank you, Rick, for your service, and good luck to Chris!
