Special guest and distinguished Rotarian Jim Hunt, member of the White Bear Lake Rotary Club since 1992 and former District 5960 District Governor, continues to be very active both locally and internationally with Rotary.  He spoke on fostering, growing, and expanding our club's membership.

During our most recent Visioning Session in 2018, we set the goal of establishing a club roster of 70 active members by 2023.  What can we do to reach this goal?

Attract and engage members

Most Rotary Club growth is now in Asia. Rotary membership worldwide is stable in that it is the same as 10 years ago – 1.2 million people.

Jim encouraged members to think about someone who shares our Rotary value of service above self, and invite them to a meeting.
"There are Rotarians at heart waiting to be asked," he said.

"Be willing to talk about your values and the four way test," he continued.

The four-way test of everything we think, say and do, is:
  • Is it the truth?
  • Is it fair to all concerned?
  • Will it build good will and better friendships?
  • Will it be beneficial to all concerned?

The four-way test is the foundation of Rotary's service model, executed by over 35,000 clubs that work together to:
  • Promote peace
  • Fight disease
  • Provide clean water, sanitation, and hygiene
  • Save mothers and children
  • Support education, and
  • Grow local economies
Our River Falls club's mission statement is "Enhancing opportunities for youth - creating a better world for all."
