Every once in a while a journalist needs a breather. A time to put away the pens and pencils, the note pad and tape recorder - wash up those ink stained hands and get out of town. This coming week, the editor will be on spring break vacation with his family in the Central American republic of Costa Rica. Thus, you are receiving next week's edition of the Weekly Bulletin a little early. Consider it a gift of sorts. He will be thinking of all of you around noon on Monday, March 26th...as he gazes out lazily over the eastern Pacific Ocean. If there is a Rotary Club in close proximity, rest assured he will pay a visit. See you on April 2nd. Pure vida!
Lyle Goff, Board Chair, Minnesota Lions Eye Foundation
The Minnesota Lions Eye Bank has a 22-person board of directors composed of Multiple District 5M Lions International members in good standing. Eye bank board members give fiscal oversight to the eye bank and report on eye bank activities to the Lions of Minnesota. They promote the eye bank and other sight–related endeavors at the University of Minnesota to fellow Lions and to their communities.
In addition, directors regularly review grant requests from the University’s Lions Children’s Eye Clinic and Lions Macular Degeneration Research and Rehabilitation Center, as well as University research projects at the Lions Research Building.
Lyle Goff is a Coon Rapids resident, local Lions Club member and Board Chair of the Minnesota Lions Eye Foundation. Lyle will speak to Coon Rapids Rotary on Monday, March 26th about the organization. For more information, click on the following link: http://www.mnlionsvisionfoundation.org/
Recipients of the 2016 CR Rotary Foundation Rotary grant award program. The 2018 program will be held on April 2, 2018.
On Monday, April 2nd CR Rotary will hold its annual grant recipient luncheon to recognize those groups that received funding through the CR Rotary Foundation. Due to the generosity and efforts of club members and the broader community, the CR Rotary Foundation will award over $23,000 in grants in 2018. According to some long-time members, this is the largest amount distributed in club history.
We hope that all grant recipients and club members (including honorary) will come out and join us for this important occasion to celebrate all of the hard work of Coon Rapids Rotary to provide these critical grant dollars.
