Last Week's Program
"Barrier-Free Playground for All"
Nick Bednarczyk (Coon Rapids Rotary Club President, at left), posed with the recent Rotary speakers from Coon Rapids' Sand Creek Elementary School: Manny Navarro (Project Co-Chair), Paul Anderson (School Principal), and Sara Fuller (Project Grant Writer).
According to the presenters: Community volunteers from Sand Creek School (located near 121st and Olive St.) want to build a new playground that is fully accessible to ALL students. Right now, there are (Development Cognitive Delay Program) students at this school who are unable to access the playground, and therefore are not included fully in social play with their peers.
Sand Creek wants to fix that problem, so, volunteers are currently doing community-based, business-related, and individualized- fundraising for an additional $193,000--in order to build Anoka-Hennepin's first "Barrier-Free Playground for All." Personalized "Fundraising Bricks" are available for $75 each. Details can be found on this Website:
