Through James's connections we can get 12 coats for $300.  That is a mere $25 per coat.  Jan Hanks, our Van Buren contact, will make sure that those coats get to some very needy kids at Van Buren.  We are taking donations from Club members to cover that cost.  If you would like to donate please send your check to Jim Coller at Business Innovative Growth, Inc., 826 Summit St., P.O. Our annual day to ring bells for the Salvation Army will be held on November 21 at the HyVee on Wilson Avenue.  Ringing starts at 10 am and goes until 8 pm.  Time slots are for one hour.  Contact Liz Durham at tedurham1010@yahoo.com  or 319-310-1300 if you are interested in ringing and she can let you know what time slots remain open.  She will take care of signing you up.  If you cannot ring on that day, you can still go to the Salvation Army website to signup for a different time, date and location.  Contact Liz on how to signup direct.  You will need to use her user name and password.

We welcomed a number of guests on zoom to listen to our program.

 

Polioplus, November foundation month, and Coats for Kids were discussed.  Liz talked about the spots remaining to be filled for Bell Ringing for Salvation Army on November 21.  Rhonda will reach out to determine if there is interest by the schools to continue our Teacher Recognition program.

 

Rochelle introduced our program.  Ward and Jackie Budweg talked about "The World at 10 mph."  Ward is a member of Decorah Rotary.  They discussed and shared pictures of their bike trip at various venues around the world.   The trip was made binding on the couple by a prenuptial agreement written on a napkin.  After selling everything, they embarked on a three year adventure that covered over 33000 miles.  They had unforgettable moments, such as almost being blown off a mountain, getting chased by baboons, getting kicked out of hotels by Chinese police, dancing to accordion music at a Lithuanian farmhouse, and playing cricket in Slovenia.   They have a book available entitled "The World at 10 MPH."
