Ruth is the founder of the Academy for Scholastic and Personal Success which promotes academic achievement and cultural awareness among African American youth.
 
O'Bannon is the executive director of the LBA Foundation which mentors young men through leadership and personal development.
 
Both will share their organization's mission and receive fundraising checks from The Big Drop.

Dr. Rob Pannier shared the inspirational story of Hope CDA in Cedar Rapids. This faith-based group runs a yearlong program where men commit to overcoming addiction, gaining life skills and finding employment. Dr. Pannier talked about the need to provide hope and confidence in what the future may hold as many of his clients tend to think they won't get a second chance to make things right.

Our connection with the students and staff at Van Buren Elementary School continues to grow with their annual holiday concert. We hope to hear from the principal on the impact our fundraising efforts have had on the Van Buren Community.
