Welcome to another issue of our weekly bulletin! I know that it's getting to be a very busy time of year, so on to the events, and I'll see you at Rotary!

This week: Rotarian Jeff Molby on the Road to Recovery
Since last October, Michigan Rotarian Jeff Molby has been riding his bike across the country on a two-year journey to promote the American Cancer Society's Road to Recovery program. That program provides free transportation to and from appointments related to patient's cancer treatment, and is in dire need of volunteers. Jeff will be talking about the program and his epic journey so far.
Next week, Bruce Hamous will be leading our presentation of scholarships to local students who will be attending Kirkwood Community College this coming fall. This is always an annual highlight and features a number of community guests, so please plan to attend and welcome our scholars and their families and supporters!
Last week: Allison Johnson and Lindsay Handy of the Girl Scouts
Last week, we heard from Allison Johnson and Lindsay Handy of the Girl Scouts of Eastern Iowa and Western Illinois. We learned a lot about the extent of the Girl Scouts network in the area - thousands of members and tons of programming! - and of course, a few lucky members took home some cookies!
Our service project for this month will be helping out at the Czech Village Houby Days, running May 17, 18, and 19. There are multiple options and times to serve over the event's three days, including setting up, assisting vendors, selling kolaches, staffing booths, teardown, and more!
Check out the signup here (scroll down slightly to get to the May dates), bring a friend, and have a blast!
RSVP for the May 30th Cookout
You should have recently received an email from Matt Teply requesting RSVPs to our "Fifth Wednesday" cookout on Thursday, May 30th, at 5:00 p.m. at Hughes Park, Wilson Ave. SW, Cedar Rapids. We will be providing meat and buns, but please plan to bring a side and beverages, and respond to that email so we can get an idea of headcount. This will be a great summer kickoff, so plan to be there!
