The June 16 meeting will not be held at the Museum and will not be available by zoom.  Instead, we will be meeting at Four Oaks, The Bridge, 2100 First Ave NE.   Debbie Craig will be talking to us about the Achievement Academy which is one of the beneficiaries of our Big Drop fundraiser.  You should be there by 12, especially if you order a box lunch through Matt T.  Special visitors at the meeting will be Cliff and Betty Ehlinger!

Iowa RYLA will be in Cedar Rapids this year, and they still need more Rotarians to participate, so this is a great opportunity for Cedar Rapids-area Rotarians to be part of this annual conference mentoring young leaders from all across Iowa happening in our community!  Dates:  Iowa RYLA will be at Coe College July 18-23, with pre-training for Rotarians starting on Saturday, July 17, at 1 pm.  The pre-pre-training is on Saturday, June 26, from 9:30-5 pm.  Please check with either Rochelle Naylor or Dave Kutter for more information.

Janette stated the Big Drop will be held on August 7 at the Downtown Farmer's Market.  Sponsorships total $9500 currently.   Liz is handling the shirts.  We need to finalize sponsors by the end of next week so she can get the shirts designed and start sales.  The ball audit will take place July 22 at the Cherry Building.  The audit will serve as our service project for July so there will not be a meeting on July 28.

 

Dave and Betsy discussed RYLA and YRYLA details.  RYLA will be in CR at Coe July 18-23.  YRYLA will be in Forest City at Waldorf July 11-16.   We have two students sponsored by our club for each currently and could use one more student for each.  If you have someone in mind, please contact them immediately.

 

Janette introduced our speaker Christine Smart.  Christine is a past member and past president of our club.  She spoke to us about her business "Designing Moves."   The business helps people transition, downsize, and move, as well as assist with estate dispersals.  They pride themselves in getting to know their customers and assisting them to get through the experience with grace and confidence. 

 

John Z will present the book "The Kane Chronicles--Survival Guide" to Van Buren in honor of Christine's talk.
