Good afternoon, all, and welcome to what looks to finally be spring for good. I'm thrilled to see the early flowers and trees coming back to life, and looking forward to more time spent outside. That said, there's always a lot going on with the Club--read on and find out!
This week: Al Pierson and Lisa Ramlo on the Shakespeare Garden
This week, we'll be hearing from Al Pierson and Lisa Ramlo with Friends of the Shakespeare Garden on their organization's ongoing efforts to revitalize this wonderful space in Ellis Park. As a reminder, this is the Metro Rotary Project for 2024-2025, so come down and learn more about the impact Rotary is having right here in our community!
Next week: Jon Cook & District Governor Carole Barnhard
Next week, we'll be hearing from Jon Cook on local aviation, as well as having District Governor Carole Barnhard visiting the club for a special award presentation!
Last week: Betsy & Dave Kutter on their 2023 Africa Trip
Last week, we heard from club members Betsy and Dave Kutter on their trip to Africa in 2023, where they took part in a workshop led by Father Michael Lapsley of the Institute for Healing of Memories and focused on the healing and reconciliation processes. This sounds like it was a great experience, and we were happy to learn more about the Father's amazing life and work.
Many of you received an email from Past President and Big Drop Sponsorship leader (jefa?) Janette Fiedler regarding seeking Big Drop sponsorships from your employer or personal contacts at local businesses. This truly is the most successful for us to raise funds for the Big Drop. You can remind prospective donors that these funds are going to great local causes like our Kirkwood scholarships, the LBA Foundation, and the Academy for Scholastic and Personal Success. Kirkwood needs no introduction, and these latter two organizations have a proven track record of success in supporting local students to improve their educational outcomes.
If you haven't yet, please talk to your employers and local business about supporting the Big Drop. There are multiple levels of support that make it an option for any advertising budget. Remember that this is our chance to make a big impact for local education - and thank you!
