We are out in the community this week at HACAP! It looks like we may have one open spot. Check the link below. If you can't make it, I encourage you do do something in service of others this week. It doesn't have to be much. One of my New Year's Resolutions every year is to hold the door for more people. Start small and make a big difference!
It looks like signups for the Soup event are lagging behind expectations. The organizers plan to decide by February 1 if there's enough interest to hold the event.

This Week: January Service Event
We'll be at the HACAP Food Reservoir packing food boxes from noon-1 on January 28. HACAP likes to keep their events to 12 people. If you click on the link below to register and it is full, contact Chuck Kudej or Mike Wagner and we'll see if we can find some more room.
District 5970 Rotary Governor Ward Budweg joined us to talk about Rotary and encouraged us all to get our hands dirty and be of service. He threw in some free work gloves to make it easier to get started! We also heard a bit about the book he and his wife wrote after selling everything they owned to ride their bikes around the world.
Mira Gibbons describes herself as "a 14-year-old girl in Cedar Rapids, Iowa trying to change the world one song at a time." She's performed more than 350 free concerts at senior living centers, libraries, fundraisers, and schools. Mira started playing violin when she was 10-years-old and will talk to us about her two initiatives STYLE and GRACE.

Don't forget to RSVP for the Stirring Up Good Soup Social on February 19 from 5:30 p.m. to 7:30 p.m. at Craft'd Coffeehouse in Downtown Cedar Rapids. Letting us know if you plan to attend and/or bring soup helps with planning. Free-will donations at the door will be given to HACAP on behalf of the Metro Area Rotary Clubs. The is an "open house" event so you don't have to be there from start to finish.
