Big Drop July 16th

The date has been selected for the Big Drop.

July 16th at the Downtown Farmers Market. Get ready to sell ping pong balls and support our club.

We have selected several organization to assist this year along with funding our scholarships.

LBA, Leaders Believers, and Achievers, and Academy for Academic Success. Both organizations fit in with our mission of help educate the youth in our community. We are hoping to have both organizations speak at an upcoming meeting so we can learn more about their programs.

Thanks go out to Tom, Janette and Jane for the work that they are already doing to make this a success.

Meetings This Week

Our next meeting at the NCSML will be May 18th, 12:00 pm at the National Czech and Slovak Museum and Library.

Unfortunately I will not be in attendance, but Janette has graciously offered to conduct the meeting and has some exciting activities planned.

Catherine McAuley - Rotary May 2022 Service Project

We will be meeting at the center, and joining small group/s of Adult English Language Learner tutoring sessions. This will give an opportunity for them to take a break from the textbook and practice conversation (get to know you) or mock interview type questions to create relationships and provide a unique and fun experience for both students and volunteers.

As always, guest are welcome. (The Center has asked to have volunteer forms turned in - in advance so by signing up Teressa will help make sure those are turned in - by bringing them to prior meetings or emailing it to those that sign up) Thank you!

We are looking for teams of three to fill evening slots through out the week of May 23rd through the 28th. A Saturday morning slot is also available. This is a great opportunity to help internationally locally.

The Rotary Club of Edina, in partnership with the Federal Reserve Bank of Minneapolis and Rotary District 5950, is hosting a 2-part series entitled, “Building an Inclusive Economy in Minnesota.” This series kicks off on Thursday, June 2, from 11:30am-1:30pm at Edina Country Club, 5100 Wooddale Ave, Edina, MN 55424.

This event is based on an acclaimed 10-part national series entitled “Racism and the Economy,” sponsored and hosted by all 12 banks of the Federal Reserve system (see more about that program and all the videos at https://bit.ly/39Dws8O [bit.ly]).

The June 2 district-wide event will focus on Employment, Housing, and Financial Services, and will feature a keynote by Alene Tchourumoff, Senior VP of Community Development for the Federal Reserve Bank of Minneapolis, followed by panelists Kasey Kier, National Community Development Manager for Bell Bank; Louis King, President and CEO of OICA, Inc.; and Henry Jimenez, Executive Director and President of the Latino Economic Development Center.
