August 19: Noon Meeting at the National Czech & Slovak Museum & Library –Katy Lee will provide a summary of the 2026 Iowa Rotary Youth Leadership Award (RYLA) Camp, held July 26 – 31 at Grinnell College.  Three students sponsored by Cedar Rapids West Rotary will join our meeting as well. 

 

August 12: Cedar Rapids Kernels' Baseball Game at Veterans’ Memorial Stadium – After some initial delays the weather cleared up for a beautiful day at the ballpark.   The Cedar Rapids Kernels defeated the Wisconsin Timber Rattlers with a final score of 6-5. This game was a close contest and went into extra innings, with the Kernels scoring twice in the bottom of the thirteenth inning to secure the win. 

August 15: The BIG DROP – A very BIG THANK YOU to all our members who volunteered in so many ways to make this year’s BIG DROP was another huge success at the Downtown Farmers’ Market.  The BIG DROP is our primary fund-raiser for the year.  All the money helps support local public education.  public education.
