For a bit of back history, this organisation has been in the making since the start of the year but the team has hit many road blocks.
Our service plan:
Short term- to provide safety and security for those sleeping rough via handouts of non-perishable food packages, safe sleeping items, first aid supplies and personal hygiene items.
I’m still trying to find the best way to purchase these items due to supply shortages everywhere as well as affordability.
We have a little money that we could put towards fundraisers but all in all we are starting at the bottom and working out way up.
Medium term- we are in the process of getting a shower van up and running, that not only provides a safe place for rough sleepers to showers, but will also be used as a hub to hand out essentials like groceries, hygiene products and hot food.
Im also currently collecting donations in preparation for an Op-shop somewhere in the Logan area, im just having trouble finding an adequate location.
This op-shop will sell Local artists work, and be used as an address location for people in need to access clean clothes etc.
Long term- Once we are fully established and running we will be working towards finding and securing an adequate location to create a crisis accommodation.
If all goes well there we will seek to branch out a second accommodation service for short term relief and recovery.
