Top Priorities of Y R Police

Crime against property
Violent crime
Guns and gangs
Drug control
Traffic and safety

What is organized Crime?
3 or more persons involved in serious offences in or outside Canada.

The Criminal Element is motivated by:
Money. Recognition. Power. Excitement. Drugs/sex

Human Trafficking Victims
A lot of young women are being forced into this trade in our area. Many are being housed in the Highway #7 corridor. 33% are Juveniles(under 18) and the rest are Adults. Victims are usually recruited on-line  with the promise of money/gifts/affection. Some use this as a means to pay off debt. The Police often work with group homes to help victims go back to school or work and get their life back on track.

Drugs- often aligns with prostitution. Marijuana is a lot stronger today than it was 20 years ago and can often be laced with a stronger drug. Canada is the largest exporter of Ecstasy.

Gangs
70 identified gang members in Region.  Street gangs are getting a lot more attention. There are also 37 known Outlaw Motorcycle Gang members in the Region involved in legitimate businesses.

How can you help?
Report crime to Crimestoppers or go on-line. Express community concerns to police.

Nash presented a certificate of service excellence to Deputy Chief Tom on behalf of our Club.

50/50 winner- Gord
