Fireside Chat

Beer Fest-  Pres. Dave expressed his thanks on behalf of the Club to Anders for another successful event. A total of 12 brewers and 4 food vendors were involved. 250 tickets were given in at the door and the weather was great. Next time we need to support Anders and Arja better with set-up and clean-up.

Ted-people wondered if it might be combined with a wine event
Arja- suggested a separate event- possibly in the Fall.
Gerry- being outdoors with places to sit was great.
Jason-should we have cheap wine and pop? Should we make the tickets $20 and get $5 of samples included?
Anders was disappointed by the average dollar spent per person. Anders also suggested that it would be great to get a weekend date next time. The Thurs. had a conflict with Music in the Park.
Gord- one brewery he talked to was very pleased with the event and would be returning.
Susan- if we have a wine event- what is our liability? Anders said we would need Smartserve servers.
Ted- noticed some intoxication and we do not want that as a Rotary Club.

TV Auction-  Dec. 6 and 7, 2014

Jason mentioned that this year a group has met and a manual has been sent out to all members by e-mail. There is also a coloured letter signed by our President available. Eleven charities will be involved. The Auction site is up and running. Do not go to Rotary TV .com. This year the bids will be in $5 increments. Reserve bids will be allowed. Donations can be put in the computer now. At our Sept. 15 meeting there will be a presentation of how to put in computer. For tax receipts e-mail Jag( for amount sold).
We want donations with a clear cash value and are easy to tell their value. A problem could be like a piece of art that is hard to estimate its value. Only 10 of any one item will be allowed. We will need to confirm with Rogers by mid-Oct. how long we will need.
Oct. 31 will be the last day to add an item to the system. The earlier you get items in the system- the sooner that item is getting advertised.

David O. the Club should automatically send thank you letters to donors.
Anu- we want to get a lot of momentum for the Auction and are going to offer prizes for the most number of donations, etc. Sub-prizes will also be given out along the way.

Pres. Dave- we will defer Terry Fox Run to next Board meeting
Aug. 11- next Club meeting at Sheraton
                    Aug. 13- next Board meeting

We pass on good wishes to Jason and Heather!
