Community Care for Seniors Donation

President Rick presented a cheque for $1,000.00 to The Prince Edward County Community Care for Seniors Association to support programs for seniors in The County such as Meals on Wheels and transportation.  The Rotary Club of Picton has been delivering Meals on Wheels each December since 1980.  Accepting the cheque on behalf of Community Care were Rotarians John A. Jackson, Past Chair of the Community Care Board and Barbara Proctor, newest member of the Community Care Board. 

 

Past President of Rotary and Executive Director of Community Care Debbie MacDonald Moynes thanked Rotary saying that the agency must fundraise 40% of its budget (about $200,000.00) and this donation will be very helpful.  The Thrift Shop at 153 Main Street in Picton is the major fundraising vehicle for Community Care and Debbie encouraged Rotarians to donate their good used items, and especially men’s clothing.  She noted that the Thrift Shop is fully staffed by volunteers and 100% of the money raised stays in Prince Edward County.
