Why Join Us?

Community

Many people join clubs as a way to get to meet new people and make friends. Rotary is no different! Rotary was founded on fellowship, an ideal that remains a major attraction of membership today. In addition to service projects, the club offers many opportunities to develop lasting friendships and bonds with community.

Career and business development

A founding principle of Rotary was to meet in person to enjoy each other's company and develop one's network of business, community and professional comrades. As the oldest service club in the world, Rotary members represent a diverse cross-section of the community's business owners, leaders and professionals.

Service opportunities

Markham Sunrise offers many opportunities for humanitarian service, both locally and internationally. Service programs address concerns like access to health care and youth services, hunger, poverty and the environment.

Entertainment

Every Rotary club and distract has parties and activities that contribute to a diverse, yet professional business life. We have dinner parties, potlucks, and attend conferences that offer great diversions from today's demanding personal and professional schedules.

Leadership development

Rotary is an organization of leaders and successful professionals. Team building, fundraising, public speaking, and organization are just some of the leadership skills that club members can exercise and enhance.

Club members, are "adult persons of good character and good business, professional and/or community reputation" and agree to uphold high ethical standards in their "personal, business and community life" as well as in their interaction with other people generally.

Membership in a Rotary Club is by invitation only, at the discretion of the members. Expressions of interest in membership are welcome. It is important, therefore, that you take time to visit  the club on a few occasions to ensure not only that you get to know its members and that you will feel happy being part of the club, but also that you give its members a chance to get to know you.
