On Friday, November 3, Community Services Committee members presented a cheque for $2,500 to Darlene Swinton, Community Campaign Officer at St. Joseph's Health Centre Foundation.      Our funding will be used to fund the redevelopment of their emergency department which will include Kid’s and Pediatric Emergency (19,000 visits last year), Mental Health Emergency (where 7,500 adults and children turned for mental health care), and General Emergency areas.   It will support the expansion of the emergency area as St. Joe's are currently seeing over 100,000 visits every year in a space built for 65,000.  Including embedding innovations inpatient care such as Super Track.   Super Track allows patients with less acute conditions to be seen faster, so they can go home sooner. The average patient who comes through Super Track goes home within two hours. Currently Super Track operates in a space adjacent to the Emergency.    In the new space, Super Track will be embedded to allow for even more efficient patient care.
