About 1300 cyclists turned out for the annual Winelands cye race organised by the Rotary Club of Paarl. The race started at Huguenot Primary in Wellington in ideal conditions but hot weather was forecast for later that day.
Paarl Rotarians have been hard at work packing boxes of educational toys and teaching aids for educare centres and primary schools. Here Hester Visagie (centre), president of Paarl Rotary, presents some Eduboxes to Ronwe Primary. With her are (left) Veronica Whatney (principal) and Gail Jacobs (teacher). Read President Hester's report below.
The Rotary Club of Paarl has been involved in the upgrading of the Kerith Retreat for mental health in Muldersvlei for the past year. After overseeing the upgrading of the kitchen and laundry and some housing units, the club has launched a food garden at the entry to the complex. Proudly showing off their produce are Paul Erasmus and Willem Visser.
MOTIVATED. Former Springbok rugby captain Corné Krige (right) was one of the interesting guest speakers who recently addressed the Paarl Rotary Club. Corné, who spoke on motivation in sport and in life, was a boarder in Paarl for his entire school career. With him are Rotarians Deon Erasmus and Hester Visagie (president).
