Paarl Rotary recently celebrated the induction of its new president, businessman Patrick Klaassen (centre).
With him are Rotary District Governor Anton Lubbe and outgoing president, Pierre Botha who also handed out a number of awards to club members. They included long-standing member Dr Vernon Els, who was awarded honorary membership of the club after 50 years of loyal membership.
Blankets galore!
Paarl Rotary recently launched a very successful blanket collection campaign in co-operation with Toyota and digital partner Creationary. More than a thousand blankets were collected in co-operation with our Interact clubs at local high schools and other donors and distributed to the needy.
Youth focus
Mbeko Eco Club organises events in partnership with other entities like Paarl Rotary to ensure learners are regularly exposed to experts in nature conservation through visits to nature areas, and interaction with professional conservationists. Recent encounters included sessions with hands-on exploration of the endemic fynbos on Paarl Mountain Nature Reserve, awareness of invasive species and removal of alien vegetation in the reserve.
