Welcome to Meeting No. 131 of the Rotary eClub of Latitude 38

Daniel Susskind

March is Rotary's Water and Sanitation Month

President's Message

I hope you all the Rotary Downunder Magazine. The March edition should have just arrived in your mailbox. Stories include a wonderful piece on the Bendigo Youth choir performing in Carnegie Hall, the emphasis of Australian Rotary Health on mental health research and a great story on Rotary Oceania Medical Aid for Children (ROMAC). I encourage you to read the magazine from cover to cover.

If by some chance you are not receiving the magazine get onto Secretary Ian.

Regards,

Deanne S.

President 2017-18

This week's meeting material

Water and Sanitation in Ghana - Clean water is a basic need for human beings. When people, especially children, have access to clean water, they live healthier and more productive lives. However, at least 3,000 children die each day from diseases caused by unsafe water, which is what motivates our members to build wells, install rainwater harvesting systems, and teach community members how to maintain new infrastructure.

3 myths about the future of work (and why they're not true) - "Will machines replace humans?" This question is on the mind of anyone with a job to lose. Daniel Susskind confronts this question and three misconceptions we have about our automated future, suggesting we ask something else: How will we distribute wealth in a world when there will be less -- or even no -- work?
