Stittsville Main Street means a lot to Stittsville residents, and it needs some revitalization.

This was the message that Glen Gower brought to the March 11th meeting of Stittsville Rotary.  Councillor Gower wants to see the street transformed from a thoroughfare to a town street, and in his talk, he focused on four strategies for change :
1) Promoting discussion among residents
2) Encouraging community/service groups to take ownership of some projects
3) Establish priorities through feedback
4) Helping the Councillor sell the project to Ottawa city council and the mayor.

Rotarians can contribute significantly to this project.  Councillor Gower underlined the importance of community involvement, and Rotarians can step forward to move the project forward.  Over the next few weeks Stittsville Rotarians will be meeting virtually to discuss priorities and identify projects.  Beautification projects and public art installations, possibly in the W.J. Bell Rotary Peace Park, are two possibilities.  This is an opportunity to put in action the Rotary motto of Service Above Self at the local community level.
