Valerie was instrumental in creating the film series at Landmark Cinemas and the labyrinth in WJ Bell Rotary Peace Park.

The Rotary Club of Ottawa-Stittsville paid tribute on July 15, 2024, to a former and long-time member of the club, Valerie Wright, by placing a memorial brick along the pathway to the labyrinth at WJ Bell Rotary Peace Park. Valerie passed away on September 10, 2023, in her 83rd year.
Valerie was a very active Rotarian who helped create the fall and winter Stittsville Rotary International Film Series at Landmark Cinemas, which is still ongoing and has become a very popular fundraiser for the club. She was also very active in the development and design of the labyrinth in the park at 1751 Stittsville Main Street.
Valerie and Tony Wright enjoyed the park and made a generous donation toward the enhancement and maintenance of the park and labyrinth. In 2021, Stittsville Rotary in partnership with the City of Ottawa, was able to place an accessible picnic table by the park’s trail entrance. Over the years, Rotarians have enhanced the beauty of the park by planting the hosta gardens along the walkway and outer edges of the park. Recently the environmental group of the club has been establishing a pollinator garden.
