Steve Hunter is recognized for his outstanding contributions to Rotary.
Steve Hunter was surprised on June 22, 2022 when President Marion Mossman announced that he had been unanimously chosen by the Stittsville Rotary Club members to be an Honorary Member of the club. The Honorary Membership certificate read as follows:
Steve Hunter is proclaimed an honorary member of the Rotary Club of Ottawa-Stittsville in recognition of his participation and diligent commitment to the organization and the development of the club.
When Steve joined with other individuals to form a Rotary Club in Stittsville in 2004, he had no idea of all that he would experience in the pursuit of improving the quality of life in his community. Since then, Steve has been a reliable, active club member and a great role model for others, participating in many projects and activities such as Trivia Night, Running on Empties, Clean Up the Capital, etc. As club president and then as long-time club treasurer, he participated with others on a board of directors to keep the club growing and strong. Steve was instrumental in making the Stittsville Rotary International Film Series into a major fundraiser to help finance the club’s community service projects.
Stittsville Rotary owes a great deal to Steve for his service not only in the development of the club itself, but also for his leadership in the community service projects offered by Rotary for the residents of Stittsville. The honorary membership is the highest distinction that the club can bestow upon a member.
