Lions clubs are places where individuals join together to give their valuable time and effort to improving their communities and the world.

Don Zogalo, President Stittsville District Lions Club, (see photo above) was the guest speaker at the Stittsville Rotary meeting on April 21, 2021. Having been a Lion since 1988, Don has served in many roles at the local level including President of the club, and in the positions of Zone, Region, District Secretary and District Governor. He was invited to be a guest speaker for Rotarians to start the conversation about how the 2 clubs could work together to better serve the community of Stittsville and area.
Like the structure of Rotary International, Lions Club International (LCI) is a non-profit volunteer organization of 1.4M Lions around the world, in 48,000 Lions clubs, with 200 countries and regions served. Club members meet twice monthly. Officially, the LCI Mission is “to empower volunteers to serve their communities, meet humanitarian needs, encourage peace and promote international understanding through Lions clubs” and their Vision is to be “the global leader in community and humanitarian service”.
While each Lions club has its own service focus, there are five global causes of particular interest around the world: diabetes, vision, hunger, environment, and childhood cancer.
