Civil servants emulate the Rotarian motto, Service Above Self, and Drs. Anthony Fauci and Deborah Birx have been living that motto more than others during this pandemic.

In a press release on September 11, 2020, the Rotary eClub of Florida made the following announcement:
“The Rotary eClub of proudly commends Anthony S. Fauci, M.D. and Ambassador Deborh L. Birx, for Service Above Self in fighting the war against Covid-19 in the public limelight. Public servants do not enter their posts lightly or seeking glory, recognition, high income, or adoration. They seek to serve, as do Rotarians.
Over 115 years ago, Paul Harris and three friends formed a club in Chicago. It became Rotary International. A foundation was created 103 years ago with donations from Rotarians when Rotarians gave in the name of other individuals, thus the Paul Harris Fellow (PHF). Individual Rotary Clubs may present a PHF to individuals who provide a humanitarian service and advance goodwill around the world.
It gives us great pleasure, Dr. Deborah Birx and Dr. Anthony S. Fauci, to present these emblems of appreciation given to each Paul Harris Fellow, a certificate and the Paul Harris pin.
We heartily congratulate you and thank you for your commitment to Rotary Foundation’s area of focus of eradication of illnesses including polio and other infectious diseases to help save the lives of millions around the world.”
