Flipping through pages of a dictionary and discovering the meaning of a word opens up unexpected learning opportunities for kids - and ultimately plays a big part in their success in school.

Wednesday, October 19, 2022 was a great day for 30 Grade 3 students at St Elizabeth Elementary School in Ottawa. Stittsville Rotarians Jas and Dave delivered dictionaries to their classroom for the students to use throughout the school year (their photo is seen above). Presentations will also be made to Grade 3 students at Rose of Lima School and Carleton Heights School.
The Rotary Club of West Ottawa is the lead for Dictionaries4Life, a community service project that benefits Grade 3 students. It is a basic education-focused project that is supported by a Rotary District grant as it fits in with one of Rotary’s 7 areas of focus world-wide: basic education and literacy. Many Rotary clubs in District 7040 participate in this literacy project and the Stittsville Rotary club is proud to be one of them. www.stittsvillerotary.com
