Rotary Youth Leadership Academy (RYLA) is a unique opportunity for high school students (ages 15-17) to gain insight and knowledge in life and leadership skills.

Sponsored by the Rotary Clubs of Kingston, Frontenac & the Rotaract Clubs of Montreal, Ottawa and Kingston, this year’s academy from May 29 to May 30, 2020, used online technology due to Covid-19 requirements. The academy featured guest leaders, small group problem solving and self-reflection to enhance leadership skills of the 51 students who participated. Based on their academy experience, many graduates change their career objectives or educational plans.

What do students experience at the Youth Leadership Academy?
The 2 students sponsored by Stittsville Rotary interacted with other high school students from Quebec, Ontario and Northern New York. This provided them with a unique opportunity to learn about different communities and cultures. They also learned about themselves and their values while having fun. Students come away from the experience having developed a program for implementation in their school or community and many new friendships.
