Golf Tournament

Ned Fogelsonger was a local business owner (G.Leonard Fogelsonger Agency) and influential member of the Shippensburg Community. During his life he contributed countless hours to the benefit of the greater Shippensburg area and giving back to the community in which he loved.

For those who knew Ned as an insurance agent, friend, husband, and father, we can remember that he always did his best to ensure you had a good laugh or smile after meeting him.

In January 1999 he succumbed to an untimely death, and in his wake a tournament was organized to grant scholarships, in his memory, to graduating seniors of the Shippensburg Area School District.

The first tournament was held in June of 1999 at the Chambersburg Country Club. In the first year the club awarded one academic and one vocational scholarship. In 2000, an additional academic scholarship was added bringing the total scholarships to two academic and one vocational.

Almost 20 years later, the event has raised thousands of dollars for dozens of exceptional students in our area who want to continue their education after high school, and it will continue to do so for years to come.

Providing scholarships for graduating SASHS seniors

• Format: Four Man Scramble
• Cost: $75 per player
• Pre-tee sandwiches provided by Subway
• Domestic beer and soft drinks
• Sports memorabilia silent auction
• Dinner after tournament

Registration Includes:

Tournament Round, Driving range balls, Tee Gifts for all Participants, Door Prize, Prizes for the top teams in each flight, and dinner to follow.

Contests:

• Longest drive contest
• Closest to the pin challenge

Details:

• Funds raised from this tournament are used by the Rotary Club of Shippensburg to award annual scholarships to local high school students in memory of Ned R. Fogelsonger.
• Over the past several years Shippensburg Rotary has awarded over $44,500 in scholarships to local high school seniors.
• The Rotary Club of Shippensburg is a 501(c)(4) Non-Profit organization.
• Various door prizes including drivers, fairway woods, putters, and more.
