Weekly Meetings

The club convenes every Tuesday for lunch in Shippensburg, Pennsylvania. Our club's weekly meetings normally last an hour. They often feature a presentation from an expert on a topic of interest to Rotarians, such as our town, current events, or organizations that share our goals. We also sometimes invite representatives of local businesses to speak. The aim of our meeting presentations is to help our club get better acquainted with the world in order to serve as best as we can. Here is a typical agenda:

Weekly Meeting Sample Agenda

  • 12:00 p.m. - Attendees are seated and lunch orders are taken.
  • 12:05 p.m. - Meeting is called to order, the Pledge of Allegiance is recited, and an invocation is given.
  • 12:10 p.m. - President's weekly announcements are made.
  • 12:15 p.m. - Our guest speaker is introduced (if one is present), and the week's presentation is given, often followed by a Q&A period.
  • 12:30 p.m. - Lunch is served. Speaker may continue as time requires, and club business is attended to.
  • 1:00 p.m. - Meeting is adjourned.

Our planned meetings and presenters can be seen on our event calendar, which is on our Event Calendar and Speakers pages. It is generally updated as events and dates are confirmed, though it is subject to change without notice.

Other Club Meetings

Members also gather on special occasions for service projects, social mixers, committee meetings, board meetings, and training events like orientations and seminars. Many of these can be found on our Events Calendar or our District Calendar, and count toward attendance as make-up meetings.

Make-up Meetings

To maintain our mandatory attendance rate of 50% or higher, club members are encouraged to make up missed meetings by attending those of other Rotary clubs.* This practice can be an enriching experience for individual Rotarians, as well as the clubs they visit and our own club, since it can provide us with a wider perspective of Rotary in action.

Here are meeting times and places for our nearest neighbor clubs for quick reference.

  • Visit other clubs locally within our Rotary District 7390, or our nearest neighboring district, 7360.
  • When traveling, use Rotary International's online club finder tool, or
  • Use Rotary's app on your Android device to find a club meeting.
  • Visit an eClub site, such as eClub one, or eClub of District 7390.*
  • Board meetings, committee meetings, and other advertised club events, as well as District 7390 and Rotary International events, may also be counted toward attendance credits. However, credit can only be given if attendance is reported properly to the club secretary.*

For more information on attendance requirements, see our Membership Requirements page.

*To get credit for make-ups, our club secretary must receive a proper report. When visiting other clubs, ask their secretary for a signed make-up slip. When attending club functions, ask your commitee chair or the event coordinator to submit their attendance record for you. When visiting an eClub site, be sure to fill out the report and submit it properly. Use the following information:

  • Club secretary's e-mail address: secretary@shippensburgrotary.org
  • Your club name: Rotary Club of Shippensburg
  • Your club district: 7390
  • Date of missed meeting: Choose a weekly meeting date that you missed or expect to miss within two weeks of the make-up date. NOTE: Since the Rotary Club of Shippensburg meets Tuesdays, the "date of missed meeting" you designate will be (must be) a Tuesday!
